The Bhopal Crime Branch successfully apprehended two men involved in the illegal trade of narcotics on Wednesday. Acting on a tip-off, the police seized 8.35 kilograms of ganja (cannabis), valued at approximately Rs 2 lakh.
A whistleblower alerted authorities about suspicious activity near the VIP Guest House in the Koh-e-Fiza area, where two young men were reportedly carrying backpacks filled with cannabis and waiting for buyers.
Responding swiftly, a senior crime branch team was dispatched to the location. They found the suspects, identified as 20-year-old Sachin Kuchbandia from Sagar district, currently living near Bijli Ghar in Bhopal, and 22-year-old Nikhil Jaiswal from the Chhola Mandir area of Bhopal, sitting under a building with backpacks.
Upon questioning, both admitted ownership of the bags. A search revealed leafy green substances inside Sachin’s bag, which were confirmed as cannabis. The suspects confessed that the narcotics were intended for sale.
The police seized a total of 8.35 kg of cannabis and arrested both individuals under the NDPS Act. The investigation is ongoing.
