The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jaipur City II unit arrested Additional SP Navneet Joshi, an RPS officer posted as commandant at the Home Guard Training Centre, along with company commander Chandrapal Singh Shekhawat for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs2 lakh to reinstate a suspended Home Guard constable.
The suspended constable lodged a complaint alleging Joshi and Shekhawat demanded the bribe in eight monthly instalments of Rs25,000 each to lift his suspension and assign him duty. Acting on the complaint, the ACB set a trap at the Home Guard Training Centre on MI Road, Jaipur.
During the operation, the accused were caught red-handed accepting the first instalment of Rs25,000. Police revealed that Shekhawat collected the money and transferred it to Joshi.
Following the arrests, simultaneous searches were conducted at their residences. At Joshi’s home, officials recovered Rs4.85 lakh in cash and documents related to five plots. Shekhawat’s residence yielded Rs2.57 lakh, documents for two plots, and papers linked to other properties, including a residential asset.
Authorities suspect other Home Guard constables may have been pressured to pay bribes for reinstatement or duty assignments. Joshi and Shekhawat are currently being interrogated under the Prevention of Corruption Act, with investigations ongoing into possible disproportionate assets.
