LAKE CHARLES, La. — Two men are in custody following the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Kalin J. Stevens, who was found dead by the side of U.S. 90 near Manchester Road on Sunday night.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Stitch Guillory said 911 dispatchers received a hangup call around 11 p.m., which led deputies to Stevens’ location. Initially, investigators believed Stevens was involved in a traffic accident, but further examination revealed he had been shot multiple times.
Authorities arrested Larry J. Bigelow Jr. and Titus T. Tezeno, both 22 and residents of Lake Charles, on charges of second-degree murder. Each suspect’s bond was set at $1.5 million. Bigelow was apprehended in Beaumont, Texas, while Tezeno surrendered and was arrested later that afternoon.
Sheriff Guillory noted that the suspects and victim had an ongoing dispute prior to the shooting. Both men are convicted felons: Bigelow has prior convictions for burglary and domestic abuse, while Tezeno has a history of aggravated assault with a firearm.
