Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has firmly denied allegations of an arrest warrant issued against him by a Federal High Court in Lagos regarding an alleged breach of contract.

In a statement released by his lawyer, Akinlolu Oyebamiji of AOC Solicitors & Attorneys, dated October 23, 2024, Igboho described a media publication claiming the warrant as false and damaging to his reputation. He stressed that there is no truth to the report, which he believes aims to tarnish his character.

Igboho expressed shock at learning that an ex parte order had been sought by Captain Ola Alufa for his extradition and arrest over a contractual matter to which he was never a party. He emphasized that this misinformation has caused significant harm to his standing among colleagues, business associates, and friends.

“It is disheartening to see someone attempting to undermine my goodwill,” Igboho stated. He also criticized the Nigerian Police for allegedly siding with Captain Alufa and misusing their power, stating the need to clarify the facts surrounding the dispute involving Alufa and Kunnu Olusegun Francis.

According to the statement, the issue arose from a contract for the supply of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) to Cotonou, Benin Republic. Disputes emerged over defective and substandard products, prompting Captain Alufa to seek assistance from Kunnu Francis. During discussions, police reportedly detained both men and their workers, but with Igboho’s intervention, they were granted bail in Cotonou.

Later, Captain Alufa reached out to Igboho, then in Germany, to mediate between him and Kunnu Francis. He proposed a sales agreement for the AGO, which Francis accepted. However, Igboho clarified that he was not involved in the contract negotiations.

Despite payments totaling over N352 million (approximately $256,000), disputes arose regarding the quality of the oil, which led to disagreements necessitating Igboho’s intervention.

Igboho maintains that no contractual relationship exists between him and Captain Alufa. Furthermore, he has instructed his legal team to file a petition with the Inspector General of Police for criminal defamation and pursue legal action against those spreading falsehoods about him.
