Dagsboro Couple Arrested for Multiple Felony Theft Charges

Cody Hudson and Tara Higgins face serious allegations after skid steer theft investigation

DAGSBORO, Del. – Delaware State Police have arrested 40-year-old Cody Hudson and 45-year-old Tara Higgins, both from Dagsboro, on multiple felony charges following a theft investigation involving several stolen skid steers.

Between May and July 2024, the Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit investigated a series of thefts in the Frankford area where unknown suspects gained entry into commercial properties and stole skid steers. On September 3, 2024, authorities discovered that Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were also investigating related thefts in Berlin, Maryland.

Collaboration between Troop 4 Detectives and Worcester County Sheriff’s Deputies led to the identification of Hudson and Higgins as suspects in both the skid steer thefts and the Maryland thefts. Following the issuance of arrest warrants, detectives executed a search warrant on September 4 at a property on Swamp Road in Dagsboro, recovering one of the stolen skid steers and other stolen property from Maryland.

Hudson and Higgins were arrested without incident and taken to Troop 4, where they were charged with several felonies. Both were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on an $11,502 unsecured bond.

  • Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree – 2 counts

Tara Higgins

  • Theft over $50,000 (Felony)
  • Theft over $1,500 (Felony)
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony) – 3 counts
  • Receiving Stolen Property over $1,500 (Felony)
  • Tampering with Evidence (Felony)
  • Receiving Stolen Property under $1,500
  • Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree – 2 counts

Charges from the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office are still pending against both suspects.
