Victim Harassed with Morphed Photos After Taking Loan

by Ananya Mehta

Two college students from New Delhi, Lavneet Kumar and Mudit Jain, both 19 years old, have been arrested by the Bangur Nagar Police in connection with a loan app fraud case. The duo was allegedly involved in harassing a woman who took out a loan from an online app, resulting in severe emotional distress.

The 27-year-old victim had borrowed Rs 22,000 from the loan app, after which she began receiving aggressive calls demanding repayment. Matters escalated when she received obscene, morphed images of herself, prompting her to file a police complaint.

Kumar and Jain are described as “money mules,” meaning their bank accounts were used to funnel the money that the victim was coerced into paying. The mastermind behind the operation, who engaged the college students and manipulated the victim’s photos, remains at large.

According to the arrested students, they encountered the prime accused through a Telegram advertisement related to share trading. They claimed they were promised a significant sum in exchange for sharing their banking details. Police are currently verifying these statements as part of their ongoing investigation.
