The Patna City Crime Branch arrested four men on Thursday, recovering over 53 grams of MD drugs along with an SUV worth Rs 20 lakh. The accused were caught while attempting to deliver the narcotics in a car near Triveneshwar temple on Patthar Godam Road.
DCP (Crime) Rajesh Kumar Tripathi stated that under senior officials’ guidance, the crime branch has intensified its efforts to track and apprehend drug suppliers in the city.
Acting on a tip-off, the team noticed a suspicious car parked near the temple. The four occupants became nervous on seeing the police, prompting the team to cordon off the area and stop the vehicle.
The accused were identified as Ishaan Khan from Jhalawar, Rajasthan; Shahnawaz from Chhatripura Main Road, Patna; Nayab Shah from Labaria Bheru Square; and Chitranjan Singh Rathore from Mandsaur district.
During questioning, the accused admitted to being drug addicts and revealed their plan to distribute the MD drugs brought from Rajasthan in the city. The crime branch seized over 53 grams of MD drugs and the SUV from them. A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 8/22 of the NDPS Act.
