Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district police arrested a government school teacher, Bili Potom, for allegedly peddling drugs in the Pakam-III area near Aalo. The arrest was made under Operation Dawn 2.0, based on specific intelligence by the district’s anti-drug squad, led by Aalo police officer Yomken Riram.
Following multiple raids, the team raided a government quarter where Potom was found with 8.71 grams of suspected heroin, worth approximately Rs 1 lakh in the local market. The drugs were concealed in five tobacco containers. Additionally, three syringes and Rs 13,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales, were recovered.
During interrogation, Potom admitted to being a drug addict and confessed to selling drugs for the past two years. He works as an IT teacher under ISSE (formerly SSA) at Pakam Government Secondary School.
The case has been registered under Sections 21(b) and 27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is ongoing.
