NEET Dummy Candidate Arrested in Bhadrak Scam

Three Arrested in Fake Exam Scheme, Others on the Run

by Ananya Mehta

In a significant crackdown on examination fraud, Bhadrak Rural Police arrested Ankit Raja, a medical student from Kolkata, for appearing as a dummy candidate in the National Entrance and Eligibility Test (NEET). Alongside him, two associates, Aditya Kumar and Rajesh Kumar, were also apprehended. The investigation revealed that three additional accomplices remain at large.

The scandal came to light when an invigilator raised suspicions about Raja during the exam held at a private school in Bhadrak. A subsequent fingerprint scan confirmed that the prints did not match those of the original candidate, Saswat Tripathy from Mayurbhanj.

Reports indicate that a deal worth Rs10 lakh was struck between Tripathy and the middlemen to secure a fake candidate for the examination. As the investigation unfolds, the police have confirmed that six individuals are involved in this fraudulent scheme, with three already in custody.

“During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that a deal ofRs 10 lakh was made between the real candidate and the middlemen to arrange for the fake candidate to write the examination,” stated Bhadrak SDPO Sourabh Ota. The authorities continue their efforts to locate the remaining suspects.
