by Sophia Bennett

Collinsville — On June 6, 2025, Love A. Willie Jr., 34, was charged with one count of aggravated domestic battery (Class 2 felony) and one count of domestic battery (Class A misdemeanor). The charges stem from an incident on June 5, 2025, where Willie allegedly strangled and punched a family or household member.

The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petition to deny Willie’s pretrial release. The petition detailed that officers responded after an 11-year-old child reported the abuse. Upon arrival, police spoke with the victim, who said Willie had strangled her, dragged her around the house, and struck her in the head. Willie was reportedly intoxicated and uncooperative.

The petition notes a prior similar incident reported in April 2024 and states Willie remains a danger to both the victim and the juvenile witness.

Willie was remanded to jail following his initial court appearance. The case was presented by the Collinsville Police Department.
