The Wayanad Cyber Police have apprehended Sushil Kumar Farid, a 31-year-old native of Gothgram, Satyabhamapur, Odisha, in connection with a high-value online trading scam. Farid was arrested in Mumbai for defrauding a local software engineer in Wayanad of approximately Rs13 lakhs.
Authorities said the accused lured the victim into fake trading schemes and siphoned off the money under false pretenses. The arrest followed extensive investigations and coordination between cyber police units across states.
The case highlights the growing threat of sophisticated online frauds targeting unsuspecting professionals. Further investigations are underway to track any accomplices or related operations.
