NICHOLLS, Ga. — Ashley Wilson, the Chief of Police in Nicholls, Georgia, was arrested on June 19 following a Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) probe into inappropriate contact with a minor.
The 40-year-old law enforcement officer from Broxton is facing serious charges, including three counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes, one count of violating his oath of office, and one count of conspiracy to commit child molestation.
According to the GBI, Wilson exchanged sexually explicit messages with a 15-year-old girl, many of which were sent while he was on duty.
The situation came to light when the girl’s mother discovered disturbing texts and promptly reported them to the Nicholls Police Department. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) was contacted on June 18 and requested the GBI to lead the investigation.
Wilson is currently being held at the Coffee County Jail as the investigation continues.
