by Sophia Bennett

PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A would-be burglar found himself held at gunpoint by a homeowner before being arrested in a home invasion gone wrong.

Late last week, the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call reporting a burglary in progress at a residence along Highway 366. The homeowner told dispatchers that he had detained the intruder at gunpoint inside the home.

Sheriff Randy Tolar, along with a deputy and an investigator, arrived promptly at the scene and arrested the suspect, identified as James O’Neal Nabors, of West Point.

Nabors now faces two charges:

Home Invasion

Possession of a Controlled Substance

A Justice Court Judge has set bond at $10,000.

No injuries were reported, and the sheriff’s office has not released additional details about the substance found or Nabors’ prior record.

Authorities praised the quick response and coordination that led to a peaceful resolution.
