LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — A months-long narcotics investigation led to the arrest of Tony Rucks, 31, after Lincoln Police allegedly uncovered drugs, a handgun, and ammunition inside his apartment.
Rucks is facing seven charges, including:
Possession of a firearm in connection with a drug violation
Use of a vehicle to avoid arrest
Multiple felony drug possession and distribution charges
According to court records, the Lincoln Police Department (LPD) had been conducting surveillance on Rucks’ residence due to suspicions that he was selling cocaine, MDMA, and pills.
On March 11, officers attempted to approach Rucks outside his home. As investigators neared, Rucks allegedly fled the scene, reversing his vehicle into another and speeding away, evading arrest.
Police returned to the residence where a 22-year-old woman answered the door. Officers saw a digital scale in plain view, prompting them to clear the apartment and obtain a search warrant.
Upon searching the home, investigators recovered:
Cocaine
MDMA pills
Marijuana in various forms
Promethazine
Amphetamine
Xanax
Four digital scales
A .38 caliber revolver
Over 200 rounds of ammunition
$810 in cash
A warrant for Rucks’ arrest was issued on May 16, and he was taken into custody on Wednesday. He is currently being held at the Lancaster County Jail.
Police said the case remains under investigation, and additional charges may follow depending on lab results and digital evidence recovered from the scene.
