UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A large-scale narcotics operation led by the Union County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of Phillip Blount, 46, of Monroe, and Jessica Diehl, 44, on multiple felony drug and firearms charges.

The investigation began with a traffic stop last week involving Blount, who was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant for an unrelated offense. A search of his person revealed over 50 grams of methamphetamine, prompting detectives to obtain a search warrant for his nearby residence.

Inside the home, authorities uncovered a significant drug stash, including:

Over 6.5 pounds of methamphetamine

More than 5.5 pounds of marijuana

Approximately 2 pounds of pressed pills

More than 200 grams of cocaine

Over 360 grams of illicit mushrooms

18 grams of MDMA

A small amount of fentanyl

Four pistols (including one reported stolen)

$66,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales

Diehl, identified as an associated narcotics trafficker, was arrested at the scene.

Both suspects were transported to the Union County Detention Center and are being held on secured bonds — $2 million for Blount and $1 million for Diehl.

Blount faces multiple charges, including:

Trafficking in methamphetamine (3 counts)

Trafficking in MDMA

Trafficking in cocaine

Maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances (2 counts)

Possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, Schedule I, II, and IV substances

Possession of a firearm by a felon

Possession of a controlled substance in a jail facility

Diehl is charged with:

Trafficking in methamphetamine, MDMA, and cocaine

Felony possession of marijuana and Schedule I substances

Possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, Schedule II, and IV substances

Maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances

The S.H.I.E.L.D. Unit and Narcotics Investigations Bureau coordinated the operation, part of Union County’s ongoing efforts to disrupt drug trafficking and remove illegal firearms from the streets.

Authorities urge anyone with more information related to this case to contact the Union County Sheriff’s Office at (704) 283-3789 or Crime Stoppers at (704) 283-5600.
