HERMON, Maine (WABI) — A 24-year-old man has been arrested following a domestic violence incident and attempted flight from law enforcement in Hermon, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

Joseph Crawford was taken into custody Monday after deputies responded to a report of a man assaulting a woman at a residence on Ohio Street around 3 p.m.

Authorities say Crawford fled the scene and ran into a nearby wooded area before officers arrived. K9 Memphis was deployed and successfully tracked Crawford down.

Crawford was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault and refusing to submit to arrest.

At the time of his arrest, Crawford had 19 active sets of bail, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He is now in custody as the investigation continues.
