Barely a week after a Nigerian hairstylist was arrested in India with drugs worth over N1.8 billion, another Nigerian national, Chikuwuma, has been taken into custody in Bengaluru for a similar offence.
According to India Today, operatives from the Central Crime Branch (CCB) apprehended Chikuwuma during a raid in the Avalahalli area of northern Bengaluru. He was caught while allegedly attempting to distribute narcotics.
The Narcotics Wing of the CCB seized MDMA and crystal substances valued at approximately Rs 1.2 crore (about N214 million). Authorities believe Chikuwuma is part of a larger international trafficking network.
The arrest is part of a coordinated crackdown by the Bengaluru police against narcotics distribution in the city. Investigations are underway to identify other members of the network.
