Mathura police have arrested 55-year-old Ameen Khan for allegedly duping people by promising officer-level jobs through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The Kotwali police took Khan into custody on Saturday, recovering Rs 13.95 lakh in cash and 19 gold coins from him.

Authorities say Khan was part of a gang operating via Facebook and other social media platforms, using fake identities to lure victims. One reported case in February involved a woman from Haryana who was promised a UPSC job for her daughter and was defrauded of Rs 27 lakh and 19 gold coins after multiple transactions.

Acting on a tip-off, the Kotwali police apprehended Khan near Devseras village on the Devseras-to-Deeng road within Govardhan police limits. The gang’s alleged mastermind, identified as Sandeep (real name Munfedd), was earlier arrested by Varanasi police.

During interrogation, Munfedd confessed to the fraud and revealed that he handed the stolen money and gold to his father. Based on this, Mathura police arrested Munfedd’s father and recovered Rs 13.95 lakh and the gold coins from him.

Ameen Khan faces charges under sections 316(2) (criminal breach of trust) and 318(4) (cheating) of the BNS Act and has been sent to judicial custody. Mathura SP (crime) Avanish Kumar Mishra said the case exposes a larger fraud network deceiving many with false government job promises.
