Mohali police apprehended three individuals on Thursday, recovering 50 grams of heroin along with Rs95,000 in suspected drug proceeds.
The arrested have been identified as Gurpreet Singh and his associates Rahul Sahota and Gobind Singh, also known as Gopi, residents of Himmatpura, Gillwali Gate, Amritsar.
The operation was led by CIA staff under inspector Harminder Singh, with supervision by SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans.
During a routine checkpoint near the Chhivjot Enclave entry gate in Kharar, Gurpreet Singh was stopped while suspiciously approaching from Kurali. A search of his bag revealed 50 grams of heroin. Gurpreet was taken into custody and a case was registered under Sections 21, 29, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act.
During questioning, Gurpreet admitted to supplying heroin to his associates Rahul and Gobind and receiving Rs1 lakh in drug money. Based on this lead, police raided a location at Gillwali Gate and arrested Rahul and Gobind, recovering Rs95,000 in cash suspected to be drug proceeds.
All three are now in police custody as investigations continue to uncover the wider heroin distribution network in the region.
