Mason Police District – A 45-year-old man from Annandale has been arrested and charged with attempted abduction after allegedly trying to lure a child into his vehicle near a school bus stop.

On the morning of June 3, around 8:48 a.m., Fairfax County police officers responded to a suspicious person report on the 3400 block of Hemlock Drive. Authorities learned that while a child was waiting for a school bus near Wadsworth Court and Little River Turnpike, a man in a black Subaru approached and tried to convince the child to get into the car.

The child immediately ran to a trusted adult nearby. That adult was able to capture a photo of the suspect’s vehicle before it drove away. The child safely boarded the bus and reported the incident to a school official later in the day, who then contacted the police.

With help from the Real Time Crime Center, detectives reviewed security footage and quickly identified the suspect as Hugo Perez Soliz, a resident of Annandale. Perez Soliz was located shortly after and taken into custody. He has been charged with Attempted Abduction and is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.

The Fairfax County Police Department encourages anyone with information about the incident to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 703-256-8035 or submit anonymous tips via Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS or online. Anonymous tipsters may be eligible for cash rewards.

Victim specialists from the Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division are working with the child to provide appropriate support and resources.
