GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Micheal Blake Turner, 39, has been charged with 12 felonies related to drug trafficking following a major bust by the Guilford County Narcotics Task Force.
The task force executed search warrants in Brown Summit, uncovering an extensive cache including 36 kilograms of cocaine, 44,000 grams of marijuana, 91 grams of ecstasy, 1700 grams of fentanyl, 16 firearms—four reported stolen—and a significant amount of cash.
“This is just a drop in the bucket of what this task force has accomplished over the last five months,” said Greensboro Police Chief John Thompson.
The operation was a joint effort involving the Greensboro Police Department, Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, and state agencies, aiming to dismantle narcotics manufacture, sales, and distribution in the Triad region, said Sheriff Danny Rogers.
Though the task force officially launched two weeks ago, its members have been collaborating for several months. Since January, they have seized over 1,000 pounds of drugs, including 657 pounds of cocaine, 444 pounds of marijuana, 32 pounds of methamphetamine, 22 pounds of fentanyl and heroin, and 1 pound of ecstasy pills, along with 102 guns and more than $1 million in cash.
Chief Thompson noted a 13% reduction in violent crime in Greensboro and a 37% drop in overdose deaths, crediting the task force’s efforts.
Turner faces charges including two counts each of felony trafficking fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, and MDMA; felony possession of a stolen firearm; felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; and felony maintaining a dwelling or vehicle for controlled substances.
Turner is held at Guilford County Jail on a $3 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court next month.
