by Ananya Mehta

Delhi Police have apprehended three individuals involved in a sophisticated land fraud operation that allegedly defrauded a victim of Rs85 lakh. The arrests were announced on Monday following an investigation into the case.

The accused—identified as Madan Mohan Sharma, Deepak, and Anil Kumar—were named in an FIR filed on July 15, 2023, at the Sarojini Nagar police station. The complaint, lodged by a sub-registrar, accused them of utilizing forged documents in a scheme that targeted Sanjay Mathur. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Surendra Choudhary provided further details regarding the allegations.

The accused allegedly enticed Mathur by posing as employees of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), claiming they could secure a DDA plot for Rs85 lakh. They produced a counterfeit conveyance deed, but upon registration, the document was confirmed to be fraudulent.

The arrests were made on October 18, while police continue to search for Pradeep, another alleged participant in the scheme. This incident highlights the ongoing issue of land fraud and the need for vigilance in property transactions.
