PASSADUMKEAG, Maine (WABI) – A 44-year-old man from Enfield is facing serious drug trafficking charges after a weekend traffic stop in Passadumkeag.
Alton Whitney was arrested just before 6 p.m. on Saturday evening on Pleasant Street, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies identified Whitney as the driver during the stop and conducted a search of his vehicle.
Inside the car, authorities discovered methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and various drug paraphernalia. Whitney was immediately taken into custody and transported to Penobscot County Jail.
He has been charged with two counts of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs. His bail has been set at $35,000.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not ruled out additional charges.
