In a major breakthrough against international drug trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested Naveen Chichkar (35), a Navi Mumbai resident who is alleged to be the kingpin of a transnational drug syndicate, officials said on Wednesday.
Chichkar was apprehended following his deportation from Malaysia, where he had reportedly been evading arrest. He is wanted in multiple narcotics-related cases registered by the NCB.
“Chichkar will be brought to Mumbai on Thursday afternoon,” an official confirmed. His arrest marks a significant development in ongoing operations against global drug smuggling networks.
NCB sources stated that he played a central role in coordinating international narcotics shipments, and his apprehension is expected to yield leads on wider smuggling routes and associates.
