Joshua J. Brown Arrested in Bonaparte Assault Case

Domestic abuse charge filed after early morning incident

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Iowa — A southeast Iowa man has been arrested and charged with domestic abuse assault following an early morning incident in Bonaparte.

Joshua J. Brown, 36, of Bonaparte, was taken into custody on Tuesday, stemming from an incident that occurred around 3:30 a.m. on May 25 in the 400 block of 2nd Street.

Before deputies arrived at the scene that morning, Brown had fled the location. He was later located and arrested.

The charge is classified as a serious misdemeanor under Iowa law. Brown has since been released from jail, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 17, according to court records.
