8 Arrested in Phillaur Drug Crackdown Led by SSP Harvinder Singh Virk

Operation "Yuddh Nashe De Virudh" targets local drug peddlers

As part of an intensified crackdown on drug trafficking, Jalandhar Rural Police launched a targeted operation titled “Yuddh Nashe De Virudh”, under the directives of SSP Harvinder Singh Virk, and supervision of SP (Investigation) Sarbjit Rai and DSP Sarwan Singh Bal (Phillaur).

The operation, led by Inspector Sanjeev Kapoor, SHO of Phillaur, resulted in the arrest of eight drug peddlers in separate cases, marking a significant blow to narcotic activities in the region.

Among those arrested are:

Sarathik Masih, Paramjit, Rinku, Sandeep Singh, Happy, and Ramandeep, all residents of Phillaur. From them, police recovered:

33 grams of heroin

150 intoxicating tablets

1 canister of addictive chemical ‘Akiva’

In a separate bust:

Suhas Padam and Maninderjit Singh were apprehended with:

3.71 grams of heroin

105 intoxicating tablets

Initial interrogation has revealed that the accused were sourcing drugs from various regions and distributing them locally in Phillaur. FIRs have been registered under Sections 21 and 22 of the NDPS Act at Phillaur police station.

The police have obtained judicial remand for the suspects and are probing the wider drug supply chain. Authorities emphasized their continued commitment to rooting out the drug menace and appealed to citizens to remain alert and report suspicious activities.
