A multi-agency operation has led to the arrest of a man and woman from West End in connection with a series of larcenies throughout Moore County. The investigation, spearheaded by the Moore County Sheriff’s Department, began after multiple reports of thefts were received.
“On July 5, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering at a residence in the West End area,” stated Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a news release. “With the assistance of the community, detectives were able to identify two persons of interest and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime. The sheriff’s office then led a multi-agency investigation into this theft, as well as other larcenies within local municipalities.”
On July 9, law enforcement executed a search warrant at a West End home, resulting in the arrest of Katie Burns and William Worley.
Both Burns and Worley face serious charges, including:
- Three counts of felony breaking and entering
- One count of larceny after breaking and entering
- Four counts of felony possession of stolen goods
- Four counts of felony larceny
- Three counts of felony injury to property to obtain non-ferrous metal
- One count of misdemeanor larceny
Worley was additionally charged with another count of misdemeanor larceny and one count of misdemeanor possession of stolen goods, while Burns faces a misdemeanor probation violation.
Burns’ bond was set at $25,000, and Worley received a $75,000 bond. Both are scheduled to appear in court on August 18 and are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
