
AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) – Brandyn Thomas Long, 32, was arrested on Friday at his residence on Middlebrook Road in Augusta County after authorities served a search and multiple arrest warrants.
Long’s arrest stemmed from a domestic violence incident that occurred on Wednesday, where he allegedly fired a handgun both inside his residence and into a car, reportedly in the direction of his girlfriend. The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) confirmed the details of the arrest in a statement.
“This was an isolated domestic situation,” Sheriff Donald Smith stated. “Thanks to the swift and professional response from our SWAT and K9 Divisions, Mr. Long was apprehended quickly and safely.”
Long was scheduled for a bond hearing at Augusta General District Court on Friday morning, though the hearing was postponed until July 28. He is currently being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
He faces multiple charges, including:
Brandishing a firearm
Recklessly handling a firearm
Discharging a firearm within a dwelling
Maliciously shooting at an occupied motor vehicle
Attempting to maliciously shoot, stab, or cut with the intent to maim, disfigure, disable, or kill
Possession of a firearm by a violent felon
Use of a firearm while committing or attempting to commit malicious wounding
The investigation is ongoing, according to ACSO officials.
