Roberto Torres Arrested for $1,000 Theft from Walmart

Aberdeen Police have announced the arrest of 58-year-old Roberto Torres from Sanford in connection with the theft of over $1,000 worth of items from Walmart.

Torres was apprehended on October 5 in Lee County after warrants were issued for felony shoplifting, felony larceny from a merchant, and felony possession of stolen property.

“Aberdeen officers responded and began reviewing witness statements and video surveillance,” stated Police Chief Brian Chavis in a press release. The investigation began on September 25, and officers confirmed that Torres stole merchandise from the electronics section, removed anti-theft devices, and exited the store with the items.

Torres’ secured bond has been set at $25,000. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
