During a routine night patrol on Wednesday, police arrested a 33-year-old man, Nahas, from Puthenpalam near Vallakadavu, after finding 23 grams of MDMA in his possession. The arrest took place near Puthenpalam Junction, raising further concerns about the growing drug trade in the area.

According to police, Nahas was allegedly waiting for customers when he saw the approaching police jeep and attempted to flee, prompting officers to stop and question him. A search of his bag revealed several small plastic packets containing MDMA, a banned synthetic drug.

He was subsequently produced before a court and remanded under Section 22 (C) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

Police confirmed that Nahas was a drug peddler, and he confessed to having purchased the drugs from Bengaluru with the intention of selling them locally. Authorities have also seized his mobile phone and are currently examining his call logs and chat records for possible links to other suppliers or buyers.

This arrest marks another success in the ongoing crackdown against narcotics trafficking in Kerala.
