SAN BENITO, Texas — Three armored truck workers have been arrested after allegedly collaborating to steal over $115,000 during their lunch break in what police describe as an “inside job.”
On February 11, the general manager of Rochester Armored Company filed a report with the San Benito Police Department claiming a money bag went missing from a service truck four days earlier while the crew was on break.
Detectives soon discovered that Reymundo Cerda, 24, of Harlingen, and Benjamin Rudy Eckersley, 24, of Brownsville, deviated from protocol. Cerda, the truck’s driver, parked their work vehicle away from their lunch spot—Domino’s Pizza—and near an ACE Loan store. Both left the truck unattended.
