The Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have arrested a young man named Bhisma Mohanta for allegedly defrauding individuals by impersonating well-known personalities, including film actors.
According to police sources, Mohanta created fake social media accounts under the names of prominent figures, soliciting monetary assistance from their fans and followers. Once he collected the funds, he kept the money without the knowledge of the individuals he was impersonating.
One notable instance involved Mohanta opening a social media account in the name of Ollywood actor Anubhav Mohanty, where he requested financial help from fans. Following a complaint lodged by Anubhav, the police initiated an investigation that confirmed the allegations against Mohanta.
Further inquiries revealed that he had used the identities of other notable personalities from various fields to carry out his scams. The police tracked Mohanta through his mobile phone and social media activities before apprehending him.
