PARAGOULD, Ark. — A visit to a local bank has resulted in felony charges for a Missouri woman accused of attempting to cash fraudulent savings bonds.
Kimberly Shank, 38, of Portageville, Missouri, was arrested on May 1 by Paragould police. Authorities say she is facing three counts of forgery, along with charges of criminal attempt and theft of property valued between $5,000 and $25,000.
The arrest stems from an investigation into suspicious savings bonds Shank allegedly tried to redeem. Details about how the fraud was uncovered have not been released, but police confirmed the case involves multiple felony offenses.
Shank remains in custody as the legal process moves forward.
