Kam Babaee, a 58-year-old businessman, is facing three charges of fraud by abuse of position linked to allegations involving Adil Allana, Alexander Kan, and Admon Barzilai dating back to June 2020. The case was presented at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where it was revealed that Babaee is being privately prosecuted for cash reportedly owed to the property firm One Unique.
This San Francisco-based company is owned by prominent Iranian-American philanthropist Bita Daryabari, 55.
Prosecutor Rebecca Chalkley KC stated that the case concerns the “theft of funds” and demands for the repayment of just over £2 million. Babaee, who appeared in court with an Aldi bag, did not enter a plea as he seeks to dismiss the private prosecution before it proceeds to a crown court trial.
The grandfather, represented by attorney Henry Hughes, has been released on bail but must surrender his passport and refrain from applying for new travel documents due to his connections with Iran.
Judge Daniel Sternberg announced that the next hearing is scheduled for October 11, granting Babaee bail for his return.
Babaee resides in a £7 million mansion in Chiswick, West London, and has previously featured on Channel 4’s Britain’s Most Expensive Houses and Channel 5’s Sally Lindsay’s Posh Sleepover. He has also been seen alongside billionaire Phones 4 U founder John Caudwell and has socialized with former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
