The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested four individuals, including Ram Prit Paswan, a general manager at the Patna regional office of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), in connection with a Rs15 lakh bribery case.

Paswan was allegedly accepting the bribe in return for undue favors related to processing and clearing contractor bills for NHAI projects. According to a CBI official, he was caught red-handed near his residence in Patna while accepting the amount.

In the same operation, Suresh Mahapatra, general manager of a private construction firm, was arrested for allegedly offering the bribe. Two other company employees, Barun Kumar and Chetan Kumar, were also taken into custody.

Following the arrests, the CBI conducted raids at various locations, including Patna, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Begusarai, Purnia, Ranchi, and Varanasi. The searches resulted in the seizure of over Rs1.18 crore in cash, multiple incriminating documents, and digital devices.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the larger network potentially involved in the misuse of public funds and official power.
