VALLEY, Ala. (WTVM) — Two men are in custody following a massive drug bust in Chambers County, marking one of the largest fentanyl seizures in the region’s history.
On Thursday, April 3, agents from the Chambers County Drug Task Force and the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force (Region D), along with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, executed two search warrants at a residence in the 1000 block of Newton Lane in Valley, Alabama.
During the raid, officials seized:
16,000 fentanyl pills valued at approximately $240,000
30 oxycodone pills valued at $450
30 hydrocodone pills valued at $450
4 pounds of marijuana valued at $9,600
5 firearms
$5,654 in U.S. currency
The suspects, Cedric Rodrickus Brown and Ferrellous Shanoraz Carter, both 43, were arrested at the scene and face multiple felony charges.
Cedric Rodrickus Brown was charged with:
Trafficking in fentanyl
Unlawful possession of oxycodone
Unlawful possession of hydrocodone
Possession of marijuana 1st degree
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Ferrellous Shanoraz Carter was charged with:
Trafficking in fentanyl
Possession of marijuana 1st degree
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Both men were transported to the Chambers County Detention Facility. Authorities have labeled this the most significant fentanyl seizure in Chambers County to date and emphasized the continuing threat posed by the synthetic opioid in local communities.
Law enforcement officials praised the collaboration among local and state agencies and reiterated their commitment to disrupting drug trafficking networks across Alabama.
