SAN ANTONIO — A man convicted of continuously sexually abusing a child has been sentenced to life in prison. On March 4, 41-year-old Mike Escobedo was sentenced after pleading guilty to Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child.

Court records state that Escobedo sexually assaulted the victim, a biological relative, multiple times between elementary school and the early years of high school. The abuse was characterized by grooming behaviors that manipulated the victim’s naivety, resulting in extensive emotional, physical, and sexual trauma.

During court proceedings, the victim shared the emotional toll the abuse took on their childhood, particularly how it affected their high school years after they eventually confided in a trusted teacher.

Escobedo also left a voicemail for a Child Protective Services (CPS) investigator, admitting to the abuse and calling himself a “rapist.” This confession further solidified his conviction.

Escobedo will serve his life sentence in the custody of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, ensuring he will remain behind bars for the remainder of his life.
