GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Two Florida men are facing serious drug charges after Virginia State Police discovered 20 kilograms of cocaine during a traffic stop in Greensville County.
On the morning of April 23, troopers pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 95 at approximately 8:50 a.m. for a traffic violation. A narcotics-detecting canine was deployed and gave a positive alert, prompting a full search of the vehicle.
Inside, officers found 20 kilos of cocaine, with an estimated street value just shy of $2 million.
The suspects were identified as 36-year-old Joel Garcia-Damian and 23-year-old Luis Abdiel Padilla-Martell. Both men were arrested and charged with:
Possession with intent to distribute narcotics
Transporting narcotics into the Commonwealth with intent to distribute
The pair appeared in Greensville County General District Court for hearings on Thursday morning.
