HAMLET, N.C. — A 20-year-old Aberdeen man, Moises Palacios, is being held on a $500,000 secured bond at the Richmond County Jail after being charged with statutory rape of a child age 15 or younger and indecent liberties with a minor, according to court documents.
Palacios was arrested on April 6 by the Hamlet Police Department in connection with alleged crimes that took place on August 3, 2023. The charges were brought forward following warrants issued by the Richmond County Courthouse on October 18, 2023.
His first court appearance was held on April 9.
In addition to the Richmond County charges, Palacios is also facing separate criminal charges in Moore County filed by the Pinehurst Police Department. Those charges stem from a May 16, 2023 incident and include:
Possessing, selling, or buying a firearm with an altered serial number
Carrying a concealed weapon
Resisting a public officer
Palacios’ most recent disposition hearing for the Pinehurst case took place on April 7, and his next court date is scheduled for June 9.
