Nearly 24 years after a man was found dead in a Wendy’s parking lot, Georgia authorities have arrested a local husband and wife in connection with the case.
Travis Silvers, 51, was discovered dead inside his truck in Adairsville, Georgia, on the morning of March 10, 2001. At the time, local reports indicated he had suffered a gunshot wound to the head, with no weapon found in the vehicle. However, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has not confirmed the cause of death.
The GBI announced this week that after more than two decades of investigation, 74-year-old Gary Fowler and 73-year-old Mary Fowler were taken into custody on April 11. The couple resides in Chatsworth, Georgia, just over 30 miles from the original crime scene.
Both have been charged with murder in connection with Silvers’ death. They are currently being held without bond at the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Jail.
Authorities have not disclosed what new evidence or information led to the arrests. The GBI emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing.
CBS News reported that the GBI declined to provide further details about the case when contacted.
