The Kalyanpur police have arrested three individuals in connection with a large-scale online cricket betting scam. The suspects, identified as Imran, Shivam Rajawat from Jalaun district, and Ashutosh alias Satyam Tiwari from Derapur Faridpur in Kanpur Dehat, were apprehended during a raid on a house near Bada Park in Ambedkarpuram, Awas Vikas-3, on Thursday evening.
The accused were involved in manipulating the Champion Trophy Cricket League gaming application, known as Cricket Buzz. They had been deceiving victims by promising significant financial gains through the app, only to exploit them for large sums of money.
During the raid, police seized 30 mobile phones, three laptops, 10 bank passbooks, 12 ATM cards, and three cheque books. The criminals had been gathering banking details from victims under the guise of monetary transfers and using them to create fraudulent identities for online betting activities.
ACP Kalyanpur, Abhishek Kumar, confirmed the arrests and stated that two police units are currently searching for the leader of the organization. The suspects allowed victims to win small wagers initially, only to lure them into greater losses. A register found at the location revealed the names of individuals connected to the Syndicate, which was used to predetermine winners and losers in the fraudulent betting operation.
