The RS Puram police in Coimbatore have arrested four individuals for allegedly cheating a man from Kerala of Rs2 crore in a fake iridium deal. The arrested individuals, Janagan, Sasikumar, Anilkumar, and Jothiraj, all residents of Coimbatore, were detained based on a complaint filed by M Abdul Ajeesh, 55, from Palakkad district in Kerala.

According to the police, Ajeesh was introduced to the accused by a realtor named Abubacker, 43, who met Ajeesh in Palakkad. Abubacker claimed that some of his friends were interested in purchasing land in Kerala. When Ajeesh visited Coimbatore, he was introduced to John Peter, Senthil Raj, Janagan, Jothiraj, and Anilkumar, who took him to RS Puram. There, they showed him a pot that they claimed contained iridium worth Rs10 crore, offering to sell it to him for Rs2 crore.

Ajeesh, believing the deal, paid them Rs2 crore on August 28. However, the accused told him that they couldn’t open the pot as it contained iridium, which had radiation properties, and could only be opened on specific days. When they failed to follow through on their promise, Ajeesh filed a complaint with the RS Puram police.

After investigating the matter, the police registered a case against more than six individuals and arrested four on Thursday. The investigation is ongoing.
