On Friday, the police arrested four individuals in Chennai’s Marina and Ramapuram areas for being in possession of 630 drug tablets. The arrested individuals were found with painkillers and other controlled substances, leading to their detention and further investigation.
In the Ramapuram police jurisdiction, E. Aashique alias Aamosh (21) from Thirumudivakkam and P. Kalaiselvan alias Meshak (24) from Porur were apprehended with 100 Tapendadol tablets, commonly used as painkillers. Authorities reported that Aashique was previously involved in a murder case under Kundrathur police limits, while Kalaiselvan had been connected to two previous drug-related cases.
In another operation in Marina, S. Ghouse Batcha (20) from Besant Nagar was caught with 225 Topcynta tablets. His statement led to the arrest of L. Santhosh (18) from Royapettah, who was found in possession of 305 drug tablets, a knife, Rs 1.2 lakh in cash, a mobile phone, and a two-wheeler. Authorities revealed that Ghouse Batcha was involved in seven criminal cases, including one for Ganja smuggling, while Santhosh had been linked to a prior criminal case.
All four suspects have been remanded into judicial custody as investigations continue.
