LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — A 41-year-old man from Lincoln was arrested on March 6 after an investigation into an alleged child assault uncovered drugs and firearms at his home.
According to an arrest affidavit, on February 27, officers responded to a disturbance on West Champion Court in northwest Lincoln. Witnesses reported that Kevin Reed grabbed a child he knew by the neck and slammed the child to the ground. The child then sought help from a neighbor and called the police.
By the time officers arrived, Reed had left the scene. However, during a subsequent search of his home, law enforcement discovered multiple bags of marijuana and methamphetamine, along with a rifle and handgun. Reed is prohibited from possessing firearms due to previous felony convictions.
Reed was later located and arrested on March 6. He now faces charges of intentional child abuse (no injury), drug possession, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. His bond has been set at 10% of $150,000, with his court hearing scheduled for April 4.
