Police have arrested five youths in connection with the murder of 42-year-old Sarita Srivastava in Sairpur on Saturday night. The incident occurred after Sarita attempted to intervene and stop a group of youths from assaulting hostellers near her house. While the five arrested individuals face charges, the main accused, identified as Chingu alias Ajay alias Shivanshu, remains at large.
The arrested suspects were identified as Aman Gupta (21), a BTech student; Kartikeya Dixit alias Anga (22); Sandeep Singh Chauhan (26); Mohit Mishra (25); and Puneet Mishra (23), all from different districts. According to the police, Aman and Puneet opened fire on Sarita during the altercation. A country-made pistol used in the crime was recovered from Puneet.
The police are continuing their investigation and conducting raids to locate and arrest the main accused, Chingu. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), JK Dubey, stated that the investigation is ongoing and more arrests may follow.
