On Thursday, Tejaji Nagar police in Indore arrested two individuals involved in drug trafficking and seized 200 grams of Mephedrone (MD drugs) worth an estimated Rs 2 crore in the international market. Authorities also confiscated a motorcycle used in the crime during the operation.
The operation, part of a routine patrol and suspicion-based checking, was led by DCP Vinod Meena and ACP Azad Nagar IPS Karandeep Singh. While conducting a check in the Ralamandal-Kasturbagram road area, police noticed two men on a motorcycle trying to evade the checkpoint. Acting quickly, officers set up a blockade and detained the suspects. A search of their belongings revealed the drugs in their possession.
The arrested individuals were identified as 25-year-old Vijay Patidar from Khajuria Sarang, Mandsaur, and 28-year-old Mohammed Shahnawaz alias Shahrukh Sheikh from Azad Nagar, Indore. The duo was charged under sections 8/22 of the NDPS Act for trafficking in narcotics.
The police ensured compliance with the new criminal law (BNS) by recording audio and video evidence at the crime scene. During their interrogation, the suspects admitted to procuring the drugs from Mandsaur. Vijay Patidar had obtained the contraband, which was then handed over to Sheikh for further distribution. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are conducting a technical analysis of the gathered information to uncover further links.
Authorities are also seeking Patidar’s criminal records from Mandsaur, while Sheikh, a resident of Indore, has four previous criminal cases registered against him. As the investigation continues, further details are expected to emerge.
