Three Arrested in Lumberton ABC Store Theft and Drug Trafficking Scheme

Alleged liquor theft leads to drug bust and multiple felony charges

Lumberton, N.C. (WPDE) – Three men have been arrested following a theft and drug trafficking operation involving stolen alcohol from a Lumberton ABC store.

The investigation began on February 28, 2025, when ALE (Alcohol Law Enforcement) Special Agents observed James Faulk parked near the rear loading dock at the Lumberton ABC Store, loading large quantities of alcohol into his vehicle with the help of an employee, later identified as Collin Montes. Faulk was seen leaving the store and traveling to Huffham Street in Chadbourn.

Following further investigation, ALE agents determined that Montes conspired with Faulk to steal approximately $2,000 worth of liquor from the store.

On March 13, ALE, in collaboration with the Chadbourn Police Department, executed two search warrants at a property on Huffham Street. The search resulted in the recovery of 600 bottles of stolen alcohol, along with drugs including 335 grams of marijuana, 3.85 grams of cocaine, 86 Adderall tablets, 63 Suboxone strips, 378 Oxycodone tablets, and 50 Methadone tablets.

The following individuals were charged:

Crystal Marie Wilcox, 32, of Chadbourn: Charged with multiple offenses including possession of stolen goods, trafficking opium/heroin, and various drug-related charges.

James Edward Faulk, 46, of Chadbourn: Facing charges of possession of stolen goods, larceny, conspiracy, and drug trafficking.

Collin Michael Montes, 36, of Lumberton: Charged with larceny by an employee, conspiracy, and theft.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
