Police Rescue Two Victims, Kill Three Suspected Kidnappers

Operation Zenda Targets Kidnappers in Benue State

Police in Benue State have successfully killed three suspected kidnappers and rescued two victims during a raid in Ukum Local Government Area. The kidnappers were reportedly holding two individuals for a ransom of N23 million.

According to Superintendent of Police Catherine Anene, the incident occurred when a team from Operation Zenda conducted an operation at the kidnappers’ hideout in the early hours of Wednesday.

Anene stated, “On May 29, 2024, around 6:00 AM, our officers stormed the hideout. Upon sighting the police, the gang, led by Tersue Dada, known as ‘Causer,’ engaged in a gun battle but were overpowered by our superior firepower.”

During the confrontation, three suspects were injured and later confirmed dead at the hospital. Another suspect, Terver Tavershima, was arrested on-site. Authorities recovered an AK-47 rifle, a Dane gun, various phones, a camouflage uniform, and a motorcycle.

The rescued victims reported being abducted from their homes, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of N23 million. Anene assured the public that the command is committed to eliminating banditry in the Sankera area and encouraged community cooperation to enhance safety.
