KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Authorities in Kennett Square have uncovered an alleged attempt to defraud the borough’s financial system, resulting in an arrest warrant for 29-year-old Nathaniel Tyree Curtis. The incident occurred on December 27, 2023, when a counterfeit check for $29,950 was deposited into Curtis’s business account via an ATM in Philadelphia.
The Kennett Square Police Department was alerted to the suspicious activity on December 28, 2023, and immediately launched an investigation. Thanks to the borough’s strong internal financial controls, no funds were lost. Investigators linked Curtis to the crime through cellular records, which placed him at the ATM location at the time of the deposit.
Curtis is now facing multiple charges, including forgery, access device fraud, theft, receiving stolen property, and possession of an instrument of crime. A warrant for his arrest was issued on October 7, 2024, by District Court 15-3-04.
Authorities are seeking the public’s help in locating Curtis. He is described as a Black male, 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds, with brown hair and eyes.
