LUDOWICI, Ga. (WDTV) — Robert Donald Parker, 38, a Long County Commissioner, and Tony Edward Fowler, 30, a local business owner, were arrested in connection with a major criminal investigation involving theft, racketeering, and misconduct in office.
Parker, who also served as Long County’s Deputy Coroner before his resignation as Police Chief in January 2024, faces several serious charges. These include three counts of Theft by Taking, one count of Violation of Oath of Office, one count of Aggravated Assault, and a violation of the Georgia Racketeering Act (RICO). Fowler, who provided services to the county through his business, is charged with two counts of Theft by Taking.
The arrests come after an ongoing investigation into the alleged misappropriation of county funds. The Long County Sheriff’s Office initially requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) on August 30, 2024. Authorities suspect that Parker, Fowler, and others were involved in schemes designed to steal money from the county for personal profit.
On February 27, 2025, the GBI, with support from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Georgia State Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Georgia Attorney General’s Office, executed search warrants at the homes of Parker, Fowler, and a third individual linked to the case. During the searches, law enforcement seized several pieces of evidence, which are currently being analyzed as part of the investigation.
As the case progresses, more arrests are possible. Investigators are continuing to review the evidence and follow up on new leads.
Both Parker and Fowler were booked into the Tatnall County Jail. The investigation remains active, and authorities have indicated that further developments may emerge as they continue their work.
